Manuals Builder: write your manuals yourself
Writing an airline's manuals is hard. It takes time, money and experience, and usually you are short of all three at once.
Manuals Builder was born from a lack of information that has always struck me. On one side, what the civil aviation authority sends you. On the other, the laws that apply. And in between, experts who cost a great deal and spend months producing a manual that you will not know how to keep alive once they are gone. I have been in that situation. I never found it normal that a future airline boss should depend so much on people who will not be there on the day of the audit.
The idea of the software is simple: to let consultants, as well as future managers, generate their manuals themselves, relying on the documents already set up inside it. We have integrated the laws and codes of several dozen countries, so that the work starts from something solid. You create, you generate, you modify, you prepare — in one place. You see where the process stands. You record the remarks of the civil aviation officials and you answer them, in the same document. The manual stops being that file you dread opening; it becomes a tool you keep up to date, the way you keep an aircraft.
I also think of those on the other side of the table. One day I would like to offer civil aviation authorities who wish it a library where their texts can be consulted and amended in the same place, without uploading or scanning documents that nobody can read any more. We are not there yet; it is the direction. In the meantime, Manuals Builder is built with those who write their manuals today, and it grows with them.
